Vincennes City Engineer John Sprague updated the Board of Public Works and Safety on several infrastructure projects. Sprague said the Washington Avenue Phase Two project is moving forward as the city continues the right-of-way purchasing process. Homeowners are currently being contacted by consultants handling those acquisitions. He also reported that an application has been submitted to the state for $500,000 in matching funds for the Community Crossings Grant Program. It’s the final time funds can be applied for in the traditional matter. The legislature changed how the program works.
Sprague noted that the new traffic signals at Sixth and Vigo are operational and feature black signal equipment that matches other installations in the city.
The board also approved three new pole installation requests from Crown Castle, a company working on fiber-optic infrastructure. The new poles will be placed along Kimball Road, Ford Road, and Washington Avenue, with Sprague confirming that other minor pole modifications in existing locations do not require city approval.
