Good Samaritan has appointed Wendy Hernandez as its new Chief Administrative Officer. She steps into the role as Adam Thacker prepares to become President and Chief Executive Officer in January.

Hernandez brings more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience in hospital operations, clinical support services, and systemwide performance improvement. She most recently served as System Vice President at Indiana University Health, overseeing enterprise operations for Information Systems applications. Her previous work included leading regional teams in pharmacy, lab, radiology, service lines, infection prevention, and clinical education.

Good Samaritan officials say Hernandez has led major initiatives that delivered measurable improvements, including a $26 million cost reduction and a 30 percent reduction in readmissions. Thacker said her focus on operational excellence and strategic growth aligns with the hospital’s PRIDE values.

A native of Indiana, Hernandez says she’s eager to join a local, independent hospital that plays a key role in community health. In her new role, she will oversee clinical and operational areas, work closely with the physician network, and help advance the hospital’s long-term strategic goals.

Hernandez says she looks forward to working with staff and community partners to build on Good Samaritan’s strengths and explore new ideas to support patients across southwestern Indiana and southeastern Illinois.
