Vincennes Police, as well as other area law enforcement, will increase patrols this holiday season as part of Indiana’s Safe Family Travel campaign.
From November 26 through the end of December, officers will focus on impaired driving, aggressive driving, and seat belt violations. The department will add overtime patrols, sobriety checkpoints, and saturation patrols to help keep roads safe.
State officials say alcohol-impaired crashes and failure to wear seat belts continue to be major causes of deadly accidents during the holidays. Indiana Criminal Justice Institute Director Douglas Huntsinger says buckling up, slowing down, and staying sober behind the wheel can save lives.
VPD Lt. Bobby Kern says if you plan to drink, plan a safe ride home—and report unsafe drivers by calling 911.
