Vincennes city leaders recognized Knox County Commissioner Kellie Streeter Monday night for a statewide honor she recently received.

During the Vincennes City Council meeting, Mayor Joe Yochum read a proclamation noting Streeter’s selection as Indiana County Commissioner of the Year. City officials said it marks the first time a commissioner from Knox County has earned the distinction.

Streeter told the council the recognition was meaningful because it came from fellow elected officials and from the community she represents. She said serving Knox County at the state level has been an important responsibility and one she takes pride in carrying wherever her work takes her across Indiana.

She also referenced the ongoing partnership between the city and county, noting she has worked closely with the mayor and council on several joint efforts aimed at local projects.

The Commissioner of the Year award was presented earlier this month at the annual conference of the Indiana County Commissioners Association in Indianapolis. The honor recognizes leadership in county government and service within the association.
