The National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday that an EF-1 tornado touched down in Gibson County during storms Sunday evening.

Survey crews say the tornado formed around 6:36 p.m. and stayed on the ground for about five minutes. It tracked nearly due east for just under five miles before lifting on the southern edge of Haubstadt.

Peak winds were estimated at around 100 miles per hour, with a path width of roughly 50 yards.

Most of the damage was reported to agricultural buildings along the track. Several barns were damaged, including one that lost most of its roof and another that had a section destroyed. A few homes had minor roof damage.

Officials also reported downed power lines and damaged trees in the area.

No injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, cleanup and damage assessments are also continuing in Linton, where an EF-1 tornado was confirmed from Sunday night’s storms. A local state of emergency remains in effect. State emergency management officials were in the city Tuesday documenting damage to homes. Greene County residents are asked to report storm damage by calling Indiana 211 at 2-1-1 or 866-211-9966.
