The George Rogers Clark National Historical Park has shifted to its winter operating schedule and is preparing for its annual Clark March later this winter.
Park Ranger Joe Herron said the park is closed on Sundays and Mondays during the winter season. It remains open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The park is now taking reservations for the Clark March, scheduled for February 21. The program includes transportation to a starting location outside the park, followed by a guided walk back toward the memorial. Along the route, participants stop at locations connected to George Rogers Clark’s historic march.
Herron said the event is open to anyone interested and has taken place in a wide range of weather conditions in past years. He noted the march typically proceeds unless icy conditions make it unsafe.
There is no cost to participate, but advance registration is required.
