
A Knox County Sheriff’s deputy arrested two men following a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon that led to the discovery of a large amount of methamphetamine.
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a gray Chevrolet Malibu around 5:47 p.m. at the intersection of Second and Vigo streets in Vincennes. The deputy recognized the driver, identified as 43-year-old Joseph Martinez, and knew his driver’s license was suspended. The front-seat passenger was identified as 43-year-old Travis Heath.
A K-9 unit, Blast, was deployed during the stop and indicated the presence of illegal narcotics. Deputies searched the vehicle and found approximately 10 pounds of methamphetamine concealed inside.
Both men were taken into custody and booked into the Knox County Jail. Each faces charges of dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony, and possession of methamphetamine, more than 28 grams, a Level 3 felony.
Authorities say both men remain in jail this morning. Bond was set at $50,000 each
