The Knox County Commissioners took time during their Tuesday meeting to thank local and state agencies for their response to the recent winter storm.

Commissioner T.J. Brink recognized city, county, and state road crews for their work clearing roads after more than twelve inches of snow fell across the county.

“For the amount of snow that we had, they did an outstanding job,” Brink said. He also thanked crews and residents who helped clear sidewalks and driveways, adding that “everybody did a spectacular job.”

Commissioner Kellie Streeter also thanked public safety agencies for their work during the storm.

“Emergency management did a very good job managing and coordinating information, especially to the public,” Streeter said. She also thanked the county’s dispatch center, sheriff’s department, fire departments, and ambulance services, noting that “they never stopped.”

The comments came as commissioners gave official approval to the emergency declarations and travel advisories issued last week, as departments worked to share information with the public and restore road conditions.
