Amazon has announced plans for a new delivery station in Vincennes.
The company says the facility will be a one-hundred-four-thousand-square-foot delivery station as part of its expansion in Indiana.
Delivery stations handle the final stage of package delivery, receiving shipments from nearby facilities, loading them into delivery vehicles, and sending them out to customers.
Amazon says rural delivery stations typically employ about one-hundred-seventy workers, with additional driving opportunities available through partner programs.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum and U.S. Congressman Mark Messmer both commented on the announcement, citing support for the investment.
Amazon says planning is still in the early stages, however Knox County Indiana Economic Development CEO Chris Pfaff says the company has purchased around 30 acres in the Knox County Industrial Park and dirt is already being moved with construction expected to begin in the coming weeks.
Mayor Yochum told First City News today that the facility could be operational by the end of this year.
