Good Samaritan is changing the schedule for its annual Men’s and Women’s Wellness Fairs.
The Men’s Wellness Fair will be held June 9, with registration opening May 4. The Women’s Wellness Fair is set for August 11, and registration will begin July 6.
Both events will continue at Highland Woods Community Center from 7 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Pre-registration will be required.
Tiffany Conover, director of marketing at Good Samaritan, says the men’s event was moved from October after farmers said harvest season made it difficult to attend. She says the August date for the women’s event is intended to give women an opportunity to focus on their own health after summer and back-to-school responsibilities.
Free screenings will include blood pressure checks, colorectal take-home kits, pulse oximetry and a comprehensive lab draw. The lab work will test blood sugar, lipid profile, including total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides, and glomerular filtration rate to assess kidney function. A PSA screening will also be offered for men age 40 and older.
The blood draw is provided at no cost to participants and is made possible in part through support from the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation.
Representatives from several hospital departments will be available to share information about services, programs and resources.
