Two Knox County detectives and a K9 unit recently completed specialized training aimed at strengthening local law enforcement operations.
Detective Cameron Carr and Detective Kevin Minderman attended a strangulation training course hosted by Good Samaritan Hospital. The training was organized through a partnership with the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office.
The course focused on both medical and investigative aspects of strangulation cases. That included recognizing injuries, collecting evidence, and preparing cases for court.
Officials say the detectives will bring that training back to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office to share with other deputies and improve how those cases are investigated.
In a separate training effort, Deputy Levi Archer and his K9 partner Uzzi participated in SWAT training alongside team operators in tactical scenarios.
Uzzi trained in environments involving less-lethal and diversionary munitions and was equipped with a helmet provided by Ballistic Buddies.
Officials say the training and equipment are intended to improve safety, coordination, and effectiveness during operations, and support overall case outcomes.
