Oakland City University says layoffs are possible as it works through financial challenges.
OCC has filed a WARN notice with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development outlining a potential reduction in staff starting June first. According to a report from Inside Indiana Business, the notice includes up to 110 full-time employees and 57 adjunct and part-time workers.
University spokesperson Todd Mosby has told Inside Indiana Business the filing is a required step under federal law when layoffs are possible. He says the notice is procedural and does not confirm that job cuts will happen.
Mosby says no employees have been laid off at this time, but reductions remain a possibility as the university addresses financial issues.
No details about those challenges or which positions could be affected have been released.
Oakland City University reports about 500 full-time undergraduate students enrolled as of last fall.
