Another busy weekend is ahead in the Vincennes area, with a mix of shopping events and community activities alongside the Historical Half Marathon.

For shoppers and vendors, the schedule is filled with opportunities across Knox County.

Vincennes and Knox County Tourism Director Janice Barniak says the area has officially entered what she calls “market season.”

“I will say we have entered market season. I don’t know if you know what that means, but like everybody and their brother has their little market popping up,” Barniak said.

Barniak pointed to several events taking place over the weekend, beginning with a Friday night market at KCARC featuring handmade items such as soaps and gifts.

Additional markets include the Knox County Barn Market at the fairgrounds and an event at Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

One of the featured events is the Vincennes Historic Farmers Market pop-up, scheduled for Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Riverfront Pavilion at Second and Busseron.

Organizers say more than 40 vendors will be on site offering baked goods, eggs, pork products, herbs, plants, flowers, jewelry, printed T-shirts, dog treats, glassware and crafts.

Food options will include biscuits and gravy for breakfast and coney dogs for lunch. The event will also feature live music and a free potting class beginning at 10 a.m.

The pop-up market is being held in conjunction with the Historical Half Marathon, adding to the weekend’s activity.

Barniak says with the variety of markets and events, visitors can easily spend the entire weekend exploring what local vendors have to offer.
