The initial call came in at 5:35-pm which reported a five car crash on State Road 64 in Gibson County, east of Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

It was later determined there had been two crashes.

The first one was a car/deer collision that slowed down traffic and three vehicles were backed up behind the accident.

A fifth vehicle approached and struck the last car in line which created a chain reaction crash.
