Vincennes University was part of the opening of the new Women’s Health Center at Daviess Community Hospital, highlighting its role in supporting healthcare services in the region.

The hospital held a ribbon cutting for the facility last week which brings several services into one location, including OB-GYN care, prenatal and postpartum services, along with ultrasound and 3D mammography.

Vincennes University President Chuck Johnson said the university continues to provide healthcare workers for the hospital and the surrounding area.

“I think we are the biggest provider of talent for in the nursing and health care fields for this hospital for this reason, of course, and it’s an important area, and with our new health sciences facility, we think we’re adding to the environment as well and helping to build, maybe, a stronger future for all these communities.”

Johnson said the university’s involvement also extended to the design of the facility.

“The CEO, Justin, came to us and said that he would like to engage some of our students in helping design the signage for this new facility,” Johnson said.

He said the project reflects the partnership between the university and the hospital, particularly through its nursing and healthcare programs.

“And so we were very happy we can engage our students that way,” Johnson said.

Johnson said the university’s healthcare programs continue to support workforce needs in the region as the new center begins serving patients.
