Governor Mike Braun on Monday highlighted legislation approved during this year’s session of the Indiana General Assembly.

In a statement, Braun said the session focused on energy costs, public safety, education, and economic development.

Lawmakers passed House Enrolled Act 1002, which changes how electric utilities are regulated using a performance-based system.

House Enrolled Act 1271 requires hospitals to provide written notice of payment assistance programs before beginning collections. Senate Enrolled Act 225 limits when hospitals can pursue medical debt.

Legislators also approved creation of the Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority tied to a proposed project in Hammond.

In public safety, House Enrolled Act 1200 directs the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to revoke certain commercial driver’s licenses if officials receive information a driver no longer has legal status.
