The man known as Mr. Eclipse lived up to his namesake today.
Fred Espenak is retired from NASA and is renowned for his knowledge of eclipses.
He was in Vincennes giving audiences at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center a preview of what to expect when a total solar eclipse creates a dark shadow over Vincennes two months from today on April 8th.
Espenak explained it’s only during a total solar eclipse when the sun’s corona is visible around the moon when it passes in front of the sun.
The corona is the outermost part of the sun’s atmosphere usually hidden by the bright light of the sun’s surface.
Espenak saw his first one in 1970 in North Carolina and has studied and followed them ever since…
Vincennes PBS recorded the event on the Vincennes University campus and you can watch it on demand online.
You can also watch it on television in the coming days.
