State police are urging motorists to use caution when encountering spring farm traffic.
With planting season underway, the Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Agriculture are reminding drivers to watch for slow-moving agricultural equipment on area roads.
Officials say farm machinery is often wide and can take up most of the roadway, especially on rural routes. Drivers are asked to be patient and only pass in designated zones, making sure the equipment is not preparing to turn left.
Farmers may pull over when it is safe to let traffic pass, but that may take time depending on road conditions.
Drivers are also encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time, particularly on narrow or congested roads.
Officials say staying alert and giving farm equipment space can help prevent crashes during the busy spring season.
